Meridian Brookie or Ellie as we call her is a 15.3hh TB mare that had been raced as a 5yr old but didn't get placed and so retired home where her owner just had her out at pasture due to health problems of his own. What a sweet, friendly good looking mare; sporting loads of bone, a magnificent hip, substantial body and breadth and straight legs, lovely big soft eye AND SOUND !!

She is also beautifully bred with the now deceased stallion Gold Meridian as her sire and Magniloquence by Foolish Pleasure as her dam and dam sire. Double bred top and bottom Bold Ruler.

VIDEO 1st time schooling x-country March 08 with Anni on board

We are in the process of re-training this mare to be a nice event all rounder type horse.

She is proving to be a very good and willing student.

She is doing a little bit of jumping now and is really enjoying it.  Very brave over anything new. I took her out for a play day of  polo-cross and she didn't mind the ball (or the racquet) swinging around at all .... she behaved perfectly and I was really pleased.

March 2008 we took her schooling at the NWEC in Rainier with Anni riding her and she was, all in all a very good girl.  Got a bit on her toes at the very start showing us some wonderful (if not tense) piaffe and passage but quickly settled and gave Anni a great ride over ditches, logs, through water and up and down banks.  We were all very happy with that.

Schooling in the water hazard NWEC March 2008 with Anni on board. A very good day.

Rachel conformation shot 2006

2 yr old picture

Rachel is 3/4 Welsh and 1/4 TB. She is a very sweet and kind filly having her mothers charm and good looks and her sire's fearlessness, bone and elegance.  She is not big bodied or chunky like her mother, she has the build of a TB or light warmblood like her sire. She stands, at age 4yrs a solid 14hh.

No issues or vices at all, is easy with; trailering, bathing, farrier, shots, wormer paste, clipping (even her ears) being caught etc etc. Always at the gate to greet you.  Green broke to walk/trot/canter.  A little late in maturing so was given the winter of her 3rd year totally off. Wolf teeth that broke also knocked her training back a bit.

Friendly and personable, everyone just LOVES her.  She has won several championships in hand in 2005/6. (see below for show details/results)

Rachel is back in training March 2008 and will attend some shows under saddle this summer.

ACCOMPLISHMENTS

Rachel is approved ASPR 2006

 VIDEO 1   VIDEO 2

Rachel received an overall score of 7.5 at her inspection. Held at Devonwood Equestrian Center in Sherwood, Oregon.

Comments made by the ASPR judges Sonja Lowenfish and Nancy Maloney;

"Good sportpony type filly, walk, trot and canter all good. Good walk and trot for a hunter or dressage with nice straight action. Sufficient canter. Neck is well sloped and set on, shoulder has good angle and length.  Correct loin angle and length of croup. Walks a little wide behind, Balance is a bit low in front at this time (hip high).  Legs correct proportionally."

2006 Welsh show results;  Rachel took Grand Champion and Reserve Grand Champion in her Half Welsh Class of 6 entries at the NWWC show August 19th 2006.  Rachel was presented with an End of Year award for being placed 3rd Regionally for Half Welsh once again.  Her sire Tyee Llewelyn also won an award from the WPCSA, getting placed 3rd (for sires) Regionally in 2007.

2005 Welsh Show results;  Rachel came in Second Place (both judges) in a class of 5 and Reserve Grand Champion (both judges) at the NWWC Welsh show at Spanaway August 20th 2005.  Rachel was presented with an End of Year award being placed 3rd Regionally for the Half Welsh Class.
